Huge thanks to Alex from Switzerland for this commission! I was super excited for this project. Madoka Magica is one of my all-time favorite series, a true genre-defining masterpiece, so I was beyond thrilled to finally get a chance to design something for it.
On Homura’s side, I incorporated clocks and gears to symbolize time and her looping fate—her core ability. The deep purples highlight her calm, stoic personality and her defiance against tragedy. For Mami-senpai, I used yellow ribbons and delicate flowers to express her elegance and classic magical girl vibe.
At first, the race number plate followed a GSR-style layout, but the client wanted more thematic elements, so I redesigned it to better reflect the characters—complete with Kyubey as the event mascot. One special touch: I custom-designed the logo by hand, fusing both characters’ aesthetic elements into minimalist line art. It fills the front space without overpowering the visual balance at the rear.
Huge thanks again for the cross-continental trust! The client is now looking for a local wrap shop—we’re all looking forward to the day this design hits the road!
