I am incredibly grateful to my Canadian client for commissioning this project. Working on a BMW i8, one of the most prestigious cars I’ve handled, was a dream come true. The i8’s sleek, futuristic design made it an ideal canvas for the 2019 GSR Hatsune Miku Itasha wrap. Its aerodynamic shape and cutting-edge technology inspired me to create a design that complements its natural beauty.
In designing the wrap, I aimed to blend Miku’s vibrant theme with the car’s elegant curves. I focused on creating side graphics that accentuated the i8’s sporty silhouette, ensuring the design flowed seamlessly with the car’s lines. One significant challenge was the car’s concave surfaces, which required precise wrapping techniques. Collaborating with a skilled wrap shop in Canada ensured a flawless application.
At the client’s request, we minimized the number of logos to achieve a cleaner, more focused look. This decision allowed Miku’s image to stand out prominently against the car’s body, creating a striking visual impact. The finished product is stunning, with the Itasha wrap transforming the BMW i8 into a moving work of art that captures the essence of both the car and the character.
This project has been a milestone in my career, inspiring me to take on more ambitious designs.
