We at Cryroc Itasha Studio are immensely grateful to our client for commissioning this unique project. As a long-time fan of The Idolmaster franchise, I was thrilled to design an Itasha wrap for a Jeep Wrangler featuring Higuchi Madoka and Asakura Tooru from The Idolmaster Shiny Colors. The Jeep Wrangler, known for its rugged and adventurous spirit, presented an exciting challenge to blend with the vibrant world of idol characters, creating a standout piece for anime and car enthusiasts.
Initially, we explored a traditional idol theme for the design. However, the client felt this approach was too cute and didn’t align with the Wrangler’s tough image. Taking this feedback, we pivoted to highlight the cool attributes shared by Madoka and Tooru, members of the noctchill unit known for Madoka’s cool cynicism and Tooru’s honest yet whimsical nature. This shift led to a bold, dynamic design that captures their essence while complementing the car’s robust aesthetics.
One of the main challenges was dealing with the Wrangler’s front and rear bumpers, which have numerous protruding parts, making it difficult to incorporate decorative elements without disrupting the design’s flow. After careful consideration, we opted for a simple gradient color-blocking technique to unify the design. We also added a subtle nod to the maid costume in the background silhouette, a small personal touch that adds depth to the overall look.
Despite the hurdles, the final design turned out spectacularly. The Jeep Wrangler now stands as a bold statement piece, merging the worlds of off-road adventure and idol fandom. We’re proud of how the design respects both the car’s character and the idols’ personas.
